There is, however, something sticking to me about these deaths. Something about where did these expansive, funny, snarky, irreverent spirits go? Surely they have gone somewhere, transformed into something – right? Didn’t Neil DeGrasse Tyson say that or Einstein say that or Brene Brown or maybe it was Cher. “Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another.”
Once again, you have put a smile on my face…. Yes, death is ever with us…but at least for now, so is life. Last evening, I did a flying act as my bicycle hit a crevice in the street at the corner of Broadway and 47th Street. One second in the air and I curled into a ball and executed a perfect soft landing and rollover. One second later I was on my feet, looking dumbfounded at what had just happened. The damage was a skinned elbow and k nee and a very sore elbow today. Well, I guess the time wasn’t right…so my exit will have to be devised in some other way. Meanwhile, I shall go on celebrating…and trying to help ease the pain of others.
La Chiam!
Your responses are always brilliant
This moved me very much, Tulis. Thank you for sharing. <3
With everything that you have going on in your life, I am very grateful that you took the time to listen, and that you responded, and that it touched you. I respect you, your family and your life so very much.
That was beautiful. Thanks for writing about Terrry so eloquently. When it came to him, i thought there’d have been a warning, like a foghorn in the night, or better yet, trumpets blaring. I am heartbroken and in shock still.
I know what you mean. Frankly, I didn’t imagine him going at all. Ever.
Tulis, I enjoyed your commentary and appreciated your shock in having two good friends depart in such a short time. I’ve given this subject a LOT of thought and now tend not to take it, or myself, too seriously. That probably sounds like heresy coming from one who was raised Catholic all those years ago. However, where I have arrived at now is that upon my exit, I want to be able to say two things: 1. “Well, THAT was interesting!” and 2. “That was FUN!”
I appreciated Eric Krebs’ story of flying off his bicycle. If I had been around to see him stick the landing, I would have applauded!
We carry on!
I concur on those exact sentiments!
