My Father Was An April Fool ~ Monday April 3, 2023
My Father was born on April Fools Day. Our relationship was rocky. Dad wanted things his way because he was the father. I know this because he told me. I wanted things my way because I was the daughter. He knew that because I told him. We drew our lines in the sand, and we waited for the other to blink. For me it was very simple. My father was usually wrong, and I was right.
I have always used the phrase, “When you leave early, all the lights are green.” This, for some reason seems to be true, at least the opposite is true. The times I have been frustrated about leaving late and finding every traffic light red (only adding to my frustration) has not been worth it. Get the lifetime subscription to everything and happy birthday.
That is a great expression. Thanks for listening.
I tried to reply to this before, but I don’t know if it went through. That’s a Fabulous phrase. Thank you for letting me know about it. Much love.
You could do an entire blog about the phrase. Lights don’t have to be traffic lights and green can mean so much more. Much love
Yes indeedy. Good suggestion.
Good job…. leaving early…. I enjoy seeing your face show up and I listen and say…”Yeah…that’s right…me too.”
xx Eric
Thanks for letting me know you are enjoying these. That means a lot.
Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad you enjoy all of this. That means a lot to me.
Once again , you nailed it !
Getting older is a privilege and the very best of the whole shenanigans!
Hooray for all of us who leave early and stay longer !
Thank you. That should be on a pillow “Leave Early and Stay Longer” xoxoxo
I love your voice and the way you think! This made me think! Thank you for putting out this fabulous newsletter.
Thanks for the affirmation. It means a lot.
And as always, from your mouth to the Great Spirits Ears!
Boy, how I can relate. Let your celebration begin! Thank you
Thank you my dearie. Your affirmation always means a lot.
Leaving early … slowing down… taking your time… these are phrases I’ve heard in my YOUTH. Now, I completely understand the deep value of all of these. And LOVE this musing… Thank you!!!!
When it warms up a little bit, you and I should take that walk by all the dancing elm trees in the central park, OK?
Didn’t get around to reading this until today, Tulis. But doing so made it a no-brainer (didn’t have to rely on memory) to send you a happy birthday wish today, since it IS today! Great to see your mind hasn’t slowed down any; I think it was wise of you to come back from L.A., cuz NY,NY requires you to stay young at heart (and mind)!
